Chem Kid

My capstone project entails the creation of a science kit designed for children in the third to fifth grade. This kit is envisioned as a subscription service offered through the American Chemical Society, with deliveries scheduled once every three months. The primary objective is to captivate the young minds of children and ignite their aspirations of becoming future chemists.

Chemistry plays an integral role in our daily lives, underscoring the importance of inspiring the next generation of chemists. In today's digital age, children often find themselves engrossed in screens, be it on phones or tablets, engaging in various games to occupy their time. Yet, there was a time when children harnessed the power of imagination, transforming cardboard boxes into rocket ships and embarking on lunar journeys during lunch breaks. Regrettably, fewer children today are being motivated to aspire to become chemists. It is now imperative that we rekindle this aspiration among young minds.

Each science kit will feature a single science experiment and be packaged in a cardboard box containing supplies exceeding what's required. This surplus is deliberate, allowing the kit to be kept and reused for further exploration. Within each kit, comprehensive instructions for conducting the experiment will be provided, along with all the necessary tools and equipment. Additionally, subscribers will receive a periodic table poster and another poster featuring intriguing facts about the presence of periodic elements in everyday items.
